Tourism in Cammarata
Cammarata, situated at the bottom of a cliff, was under many dominations, such as the Arabs, the Altavillas in 1087, the Malettas, the Vinciguerras, the Moncadas, the Abatellis and finally the Brancifortes. After them the feudal system was abolished.
West of the town there is the massive Mount Cammarata, where a natural park has been recently established.
The park includes Mount Cammarata, which is the highest mountain of the Sicani (1587 metres), and Mount Gemini.

The natural reserve is a complex forest and from its paths, arriving up to the top, you can enjoy a rich vegetation.
Of great interestis the botanical aspect of this area: on the top of the mountain you find the Chamomile of the Madonie Mountains, the Sicilian groundsel, the yellow Bivonea, the silver sage and the Sicilian iris.
In the rich meadows many multicolour flowers peep out, such as many different kind of orchids, and walking on you can also meet many birds. Amongst them you will notice the owl and the red pied woodpecker for their beauty and colours. Several are also butterflies, such as the light blue Silvano and the multicolour vanessa.
