A particular of Ribera

It is interesting to remember that the town was named Ribera in 1627 by its founder, Prince Luigi Moncada of Paternò, who wished to honor his wife Maria Fan de Ribera by doing so.

In 1713, the suburb became a possession of the noble Toledo family, headed by Giuseppe duke of Ferrandina. He made every effort to lead the town towards a considerable demographic and economical development. Subsequently, the town achieved its autonomy.
