Marianopoli - founded in 1726 by Baron Della Scala, who moved an entire Greek-Albanian colony to populate it - houses an interesting Archeological Museum.
The new museum is located in the new town hall and contains findings from Mount Castellazzo, the settlement of Balate and the necropolis of Valle Oscura.

The first floor is divided in three rooms: in Room 1 there are findings from the prehistoric settlements of Mount Castellazzo and Mount Balate-Valle Oscura dating to the period between Neolithic and the early Bronze Age; in Room 2 there are findings from the Balate site and two votive funereal and commemorative inscriptions; in Room 3 there are materials and painted ceramics from the local Greek necropolis of Valle Oscura.
The second floor has a room only, collecting materials from the settlement of Mount Castellazzo and equipments from the precious Hellenistic necropolis, such as red figured ceramics in Siciliota and Gnatia styles.
