Maletto (Zip Code 95035) is 204 Km. distant from Agrigento, 136 Km. from Caltanissetta, 59 Km. from Catania, which is the province it belongs to, 93 Km. from Enna, 100 Km. from Messina, 208 Km. from Palermo, 198 Km. from Ragusa, 117 Km. from Siracusa, 307 Km. from Trapani.

The municipality counts 4.442 inhabitants, its surface measures 4.088 hectares, and its population density counts 109 inhabitants per square kilometre. It rises over a mountain area, 1.000 meters above the sea-level.

Situated on the highest spot in the province of Catania, Maletto boasts a rich production of cereals, grapes, and excellent strawberries, that can be tasted during the annual Sagra della Fragola (strawberry festival) in the month of June.
Cattle breeding, horse and sheep farms are flourishing because of the vast pasture areas, and the deriving products are exhibited each year during the Cattle Fair in the month of September.
The town was given its name in 1263 by Count Manfredi Maletto from Mineo, the founder of the first inhabited center. Between the XV and XVI centuries, the suburb was bestowed to the noble Spatafora family, and in 1619 it became a princedom.

Architecturally, the most interesting monuments are the Chiesa Madre erected in 1870, preserving an imposing renaissance dome-shaped bell-tower, the Chiesa di S. Michele Arcangelo, and the Chiesa di S. Antonio di Padova, both of the XVII century.
Al throughout the territory, there are several archeological areas, such as the Tartarici district, where tombs from the proto-history era have been discovered.
Noteworthy are also Maletto's pipers, called Bruntisi, very requested during the Christmas season to play the bagpipes.
