The Church of Sant'Agrippina

Dedicated to patron of the village, the Church was rebuilt toward the end of the XVII century since its structure was damaged by the earthquake in 1693.

Of the original structure, datable to 1300, have remained only three semicircular apses of calcareous stone.

The inside is very articulated in decorations which affect the whole building.

Surely the numerous XVIIIth-century stuccoes which adorn the ceiling make an impression. They represent scenes from the Old Testament.

In direction of right transept it is possible to admire a precious crib made of XVIIIth-century wooden statues of best workmanship.

In the right chapel of presbytery there is a stern marble portal of 1500 in the niche there is a wooden coloured statue representing Sant'Agrippina, made in the same period by Vincenzo Archifel (1486-1533).

Of great artistical interest is also the small temple.

It raises on four hexagonal columns with trilobate arches and pavilion dome and it is covered by an embossed silver leaf which makes this work of the XVII century very valuable.

At high altar there is a bronze candelabrum dated back to 1593 and attributable to Domenico Mandalà.

In direction of the left transept there is the sarcophagus of Angela De Guerriero, decorated on the lid with the image of a knight and on front with harpies in relief which is datable to the end of the XVI century.
