Chiesa di Santa Rita

The name Ragalnà derives from the Arab term Rahal Ann, that means "Anna's farmhouse".

The first inhabited center rose in the XVIII century.

Nevertheless, the first concrete urban center rose in the surroundings of the Chiesa Madre di Maria SS. del Carmelo in 1868 only, and it initially belonged to the nearby town of Paternò. On April 25, 1985 the town became autonomous.

The most outstanding monuments are the Mather Church of Maria SS. del Carmelo, the Chiesa di S. Barbara, the Chiesa di Santa Rita, the Chiesa di S. Giovanni Bosco and the Chiesa di Canfarella.

It is interesting to remember that Ragalnà hosts the important Astrophysics Observatory of Serra La Nave.

The caves excavated by the lava are numerous and beautiful, such as the the cave of Santa Barbara, of Rocca, of the Tallarita, and of the Madonna.
