Extended over a valley bordering the Dittàino river, Catenanuova boasts a conspicuous cultivation of wheat, oats, and barley, products that are exhibited during the annual Wheat Festival, held in the month of June.
Even the Cattle Fair and the exhibit of agricultural tools are relevant, held in the months of May and September.
The name Catenanuova derives from the name of its owner Luigi Reggio, called "Prince of Catena", referring to the town of Aci Catena.
The current suburb was founded in the XVIII° century by lord Andrea Statella, who was appointed prince. His noble family owned the town until the abolition of feudality.
As per monuments, the most noteworthy are the Chiesa Madre (Mother Church) and the feudatory's Palace, both erected in the XVII° century.
