Nissoria (ZipCode 94010) is 141 Km. distant from Agrigento, 69 Km. from Caltanissetta,80 Km. from Catania, 28 Km. from Enna, which is the province it belongsto, 165 Km. from Messina, 177 Km. from Palermo, 150 Km. from Ragusa, 138Km. from Siracusa, 276 Km. from Trapani.
The municipality counts 3.046 inhabitants, its surface measures 6.162 hectares, and its population density counts 49 inhabitants per square kilometre. It rises over an internal hilly area, 730 meters above the sea-level.

A charming mountain town, Nissoria boasts a conspicuous cultivation of wheat, grapes, olives, and fruit, that can be tasted during the annual wine and gastronomy event held in the month of May. Cattle breeding is flourishing thanks to theseveral pasture areas.
The name Nissoria derives from the Greek term Sunorì, that means "proximity" due to the town's equal distance from the towns of Leonforte and Agira. The current inhabited center rose in 1757 thanks to nobleman Francesco Rodrigo Ventimiglia, where he had the inhabitants of the nearby Torre Valley relocate. Afterwards, the feud belonged to the noble Moncada family, appointed barons, who kept it until the abolition of the feudal rights.
The most relevant monument from an architectural point of view is the Dome, that has a typical facade decorated by a loggia with three arches. Every year, the Dome isthe staring point of the Feast of S. Giuseppe, the town's patron saint, held in the month of August. The Church dedicated to S. Giuseppe is relevantas well, preserving splendid paintings by Guglielmo Borremans (1670-1744).
