Besides it is testified the presence of a tonnara (tuna station) in 1400, of a trappeto (oil-mill) for sugar working, and a tower. The peopled centre rose in 1922 after a landslide that shooked the town of San Fratello.

This event forced the greater part of the population to move in the village "la Marina".

The government enact a law for the reconstruction of the lived of San Fratello in other place, in "Acquedolci".

Particolare del verde di Acquedolci

In little years to Acquedolci were constructed the council houses, the "padiglioni" (pavilion), the post office, the school, the Municipality, the Church Mother, the cemetary, water and drainage system. The demographic increase and the local culture has became Acquedolci a self-governing Municipality.

The Church Mother opened to cult in 1929 and has a neoclassic style. In interior with a nave and two side aisles, can be admired the rich altar with carvings in valuable wood and bas-reliefs. The bas-reliefs show the four Gospel and the statue of the paper-pulp of Our Lady of Sorrows.

Very important from an artistical point of view are the ruins of an old castle, the parish church and the little church of St. Giacomo.

The castle was built between the XVII and XVIII centuries by the prince of Palagonia. The tower was built by Larcan De Soto and was one of the towers to sighting built to Carlo V, in XVI sec., for defence of Sicilian's coast.

Besides there are important archaeological areas in Pizzo Castellaro that keep remains of the palaolithic age.
