In 1987 in Bagnoli some works of excavation brought to light first ruins of a thermal structure belonging to an ancient Roman villa dating back to the III-IV centuries A.D..
From the planimetry of ruins, lacking in perimetrical walls, it is possible to identify rooms of apsed calidarium and of frigidarium both assigned to baths.
Further findings have brought to discovery of a furnace, of pipes for hot waters and some water systems.
Very interesting are the polychrome mosaics which decorate the whole flooring.
Scholars, basing upon results of operations of excavations, don't have excluded the possibility that they may bring to light a complete inhabited centre.
