Castel di Lucio (Zip Code 98070) is 196 Km. distant from Agrigento, 154 Km. from Caltanissetta, 183 Km. from Catania, 113 Km. from Enna, 181 Km. from Messina, that is the province it belongs to, 122 Km. from Palermo, 258 Km. from Ragusa, 241 Km. from Siracusa, 221 Km. from Trapani.
The municipality has 1.637 inhabitants, its surface measures 2.837 hectares and its population density counts 58 inhabitants per square kilometre.
It rises inland in a mountainous spot, 738 metres above the sea-level.

The main economical activities are agriculture (wheat and legumes), cattle breeding (cows, pigs and sheep) and handicraft (embroidery, textiles and object in wood or wrought iron). The local cheese is also very nice.

The original name of the town was Castelluccio up to 1863, when it was changed in Castel di Lucio to distinguish it from the other four homonymous towns.
We do not have many historical information about the old town, but we know that is was founded in 1421 by the viceroy of Sicily Niccolò Speciale, around a castle defending the valley of Tusa.
It was under the jurisdiction of Mistretta up to the 18th century, when it became an autonomous municipality.
Among the most interesting monuments we include the Castle built in the 14th century, whose tower still stands, the church of the Frati Minori and the Mother Church.
