We do not have many documents related to its origin, but we know that in 1334 Frederick II of Aragona gave it to Cristoforo Romano whose family owned it up to 1643.

The Mother Church built during the Baroque age is artistically relevant, as well as the church of S. Calogero, also Baroque, the ruins of the Castel Colonna and Castel di Bono.

The festival for S. Calogero, the patron saint, is very peculiar. It takes place on June 18 and August 31 and the statue of the saint is taken from the youth to the highest part of the town.
