Gallodoro (Zip Code 98030) is 250 km. distant from Agrigento, 184 km. from Caltanissetta, 58 km. from Catania, 155 km. from Enna, 47 km. from Messina, which province it belongs to, 295 km. from Palermo, 162 km. from Ragusa, 116 km. from Siracusa, 394 km. from Trapani.

The municipality has 458 inhabitants and an area of 690 hectares for a population density of 66 inhabitants per square kilometre. It rises on a mountainous area along the coast and is 380 metres above sea-level.

The Town Hall is placed in piazza S. Maria, tel. ++39 0942-36105 fax. ++39 0942-36105.

The main economic activity is agriculture. Products mostly cultivated are citrus fruit, olives, and wine-grapes.

The name of the village derives from Kallidoron, and means "nice present". The first populated nucleus has been a part of Taormina until1632 when it was sold and acquired by the feudal family Reitano.

From 1678 to 1760 it has belonged to the noble family Vigos. Later it has been part of the commune of Letojanni-Gallodoro until 1952 when it became an indipendent commune.

The most interesting monuments are the parish Church of the Assunta which keeps inside a valuable processional wood standard that is dated back to the XIV century. It presents in the frontal part an image of Madonna col Bambino, a work made by Antonello de Saliba (XV century).
