Leni (Zip Code 98050) is a commune placed on Salina isle and belongs to archipelago of Eolie isles, which administratively are part of the province of Messina.
The municipality has 655 inhabitants and an area of 856 hectares for a population density of 77 inhabitants per square kilometre. It rises on a hilly area along the coast and is 200 metres above sea-level.

Main economic activities are agriculture,fishing, tourism and handicraft. Products mostly cultivated are olives, capers. Excellent local wine called Malvasia. Typical of this place is the craftmade production of canes and rods.
The etymology of Leni derives from Greek Elèna, that for apheresis becomes Lena. There are not many historical news about the commune but we know that it belonged to the feud of Castanea and was ruled by Galletti family in the XVII century.

Until 1909 it has been part of Salina which territory it belonged to and then it became an independent commune.
The most interesting monument is the Santuario della Madonna del Terzito which keeps inside a valuable eighteenth-century canvas. The pretty little town is very appreciate as touristic and bathing place.
