Statue of San Biagio

Militello derives its name from Meleto that means "field of apples". The addition Rosmarino derives from the name of the homonymous near valley.

There are not many historical news about the small town, even if it there was already during Norman period. In Swabian period it has belonged to royal State.

In the XIV century it was conquered by Aragoneses and later it was possession of different feudal families like Russo in 1400 and Gallego soon after. It has been under Gallego family until the abolition of feudal duties.

The most interesting monuments are the Church of St. Domenico of 1400 where it is preserved a sarcophagus with the mortal remains of the baroness Laura Russo made by Gagini's school; the Church of St. Sebastiano where is kept a valuable seventeenth-century canvas and the Cathedral Church dedicated to St. Biagio built in the XVI century which keeps works of art date back to 1600 and 1700. Interesting is also the Castle in Norman style.
