The Cathedral The Cathedral is now the only religious building of the whole village of San Filippo del Mela. Its building was started by manifest wish of Giovan Battista Vaccarini (1702-1768?). The period in which works of building had started is included between 1760 and 1768. The external structure of the Cathedral is very imposing and stern. This is due above all to the main front made in neo-gothic style Inside are kept several works of art: worthy of particular attention is, for the best quality of workmanship, a wooden statue dating to the early XVIII century representing St. Philip Apostle. |
