This is one of the reflections that the reading of the present volume provokes. Anthropology in Sicily, Horizons and Protagonists, is, in fact, the fruit of decades of activity of search of the Authors who have matured, also in I furrow of the disciplinary tradition, withins and fields that find wide trattazione and spreading today.

The volume, in first part from the meaningful title of Horizons, introduces those tests whose central reason turns out to be the delineation of the climax that favored and determined in the second half of the 1800's, above all in Sicily the formation of an anthropological school that sinks its roots in the studies of Giuseppe Pitrè and Salvatore Salomone Marino. Leaving from the patres it comes delineated the distance of the antroplogici studies that if initially they address to the analysis of the folklore, with Giuseppe Cocchiara, follow with one true and own " idealizzazione of the wild people ".

The second part of the volume, specifically is turned the Protagonists, exactly, that is to whom they give Pitrè in then have known to throw the bases of the most modern anthropology.

Questa è una delle riflessioni che suscita la lettura del presente volume. Antropologia in Sicilia, Orizzonti e Protagonisti, è, infatti, il frutto di decenni di attività di ricerca degli Autori che hanno maturato, pur nel solco della tradizione, ambiti e settori disciplinari che trovano oggi ampia trattazione e divulgazione.

Il volume, nella prima parte dal significativo titolo di Orizzonti, presenta quei saggi il cui motivo centrale risulta essere la delineazione del climax che favorì e determinò nella seconda metà dell'Ottocento, soprattutto in Sicilia la formazione di una scuola antropologica che affonda le sue radici negli studi di Giuseppe Pitrè e Salvatore Salomone Marino. Partendo dai patres viene delineato il percorso degli studi antroplogici che se inizialmente si rivolgono all'analisi del folklore, con Giuseppe Cocchiara, seguono con una vera e propria "idealizzazione dei popoli selvaggi".

La seconda parte del volume, è specificamente rivolta ai Protagonisti, appunto, cioè a coloro che da Pitrè in poi hanno saputo gettare le basi della più moderna antropologia.

Molti dei saggi qui raccolti, sono nati da occasioni specifiche come seminari o giornate di studio.
