In the Xv century the small town was made up of a little nucleus of houses that had been erected by the immigrant Don Pietro Alimeno from Cosenza.

Church of ex Convent of St. Maria

Then in 1628 the marquise Antonio Alimena enlarged the centre and gave his name to the small town.

In the monumental field there are some important monuments such as the Cathedral Church in baroque style, erected in 1724 with the bell-tower of the same period.

Its altars are enriched by paintings of 1700.

The Church is attached to the ex convent of St. Maria of which now very little has remained.

The convent keeps still now the original structure of 1700.
