Borgetto (Zip Code 90042) is 133 km. distant from Agrigento, 168 km. from Caltanissetta, 275 km. from Catania, 187 km. from Enna, 282 km. from Messina, 26 km. from Palermo, which province it belongs to, 269 km. from Ragusa, 350 km. from Siracusa, 73 km. from Trapani.
The municipality has 6.421 inhabitants and its area is 2.595 hectares for a density of population of 247 inhabitants per square kilometre. It rises on an inner hill zone and is 290 metres above sea-level.

Borgetto's lands produce fruit, wine-grapes, corn, cereals, legumes and almonds. As regards breedings are present sheep and goatish ones.
The name of the small town derives from the Arabic word Burg (tower) that in this case it means small tower. It has feudal origins and since the XV century it has belonged to the Benedictine monastery of St. Maria of the Ciambre. Later it changed into the control of Palermo's municipality.
The inhabited centre was created near the monastery, on the Mount Crocefia, where now it is possible to admire the remains of the Sanctuary of the Madonna of Romitello inside it is still present the image of the Madonna. On the same mountain are still visible also the remains of the Monastery of St. Maria of the Ciambre.
