A very small agricultural centre it produces corn, fruit, olives, almonds, chestnuts and wine-grapes.

The name of the small town is made up of two words: Campofelice, which refers to the fertility of the lands, and Fitalia, a Greek word that means plantation. The village took place in the north of the peak of Mezzaluna about in the early part of the XIX century, in the territory of a feud belonging to Marziani family Princes of Furnari. Later it turned under the administrative dependence of Mezzojuso municipality till 1952 when it became self-governing.

Particularly curious is an old local legend that regards the Grotta of the Edera (Grotto of the ivy) on the mountain that dominates the small town. According to the tale inside the Grotto is hidden a large and elusive treasure and every seven years the devils, who are guardians of it, have a great party all night long.
