Tourism in Carini
It had rose between 1075 and 1090 thanks to Rodolfo Bonello and more times it has been restored in years, above all thanks to La Grua-Talamanca.
Its inside, the Salone delle Derrate (Hall of victuals), now turned into library, has two beautiful XVth-century stone arches supported by a solid column.
Very suggestive to admire is wood ceiling which is painted and carved of the XVI century.

It is in the Salone delle feste (Hall of feasts), embellished with decorations and stalactites in Catalan Gothic style.
The Castle is famous for tragical episode of Baroness of Carini. In 1563 the very beautiful daughter of count Mussomeli, Laura Lanza, bride of Don Vincenzo La Grua, falls in love with Ludovico Vernagallo who reciprocates her affection. Her father, thinking to good name of the family, tries to put an end to this story, but love which is between them resists.
So the count, Laura's father, was pitiless and kills them and honour of family is now safe. By passing the time the episode has assumed colours of legend and has become one of the most favourite subject of poets and ballad-singers.
