Contessa Entellina (Zip Code 90030) is 106 km. distant from Agrigento, 160 km. from Caltanissetta, 276 km. from Catania, 170 km. from Enna, 339 km. from Messina, 80 km. from Palermo, which province it belongs to, 242 km. from Ragusa, 323 km. from Siracusa, 99 km. from Trapani.
The municipality has 2.032 inhabitants and its area covers 13.637 hectares for a density of population of 15 inhabitants per square kilometre. It rises on an internal hilly area and is placed 571 metres above sea-level.

Important handicraft centre, in Contessa Entellina are forged exemplars of Byzantine icons and are cultivated some agricultural products such as corn, olives, citrus fruit as well as wine-grapes. There are also fairs of livestock that take place in May and September.
Contessa rises at the foot of Mount Genuado about in 1450 by Greek-Albanian inhabitants who were immigrants from the militar colony of Bisiri. The name of Entellina was added in 1875 and derives from Entella, an ancient village inhabited by the Elima people.
In artistic field there are the Cathedral Church built in the XVI century where still now it is celebrated the mass according to Greek rite; the Church of St. Maria delle Grazie delle Fave that keeps on the contrary Latin rite. Out of the town perimeter it can make escursions on the Rocca d'Entella (Fortress of Entella) and in the Castle of Calatamauro, perhaps Byzantine made. Then the nature reserves of Grotta di Entella and Mount Genuardo.
An important manifestation inside the Contessa's calendar is the Feast of the Madonna della Favara that takes place in September. During it the faithful belonging to two different catholic rites (Latin and Greek) are joint in an only Eucharistic celebration.
