Ficarazzi (Zip Code 90010) is 129 km. distant from Agrigento, 132 km. from Caltanissetta, 239 km. from Catania, 151 km. from Enna, 249 km. from Messina, 10 km. from Palermo, which province it belongs to, 273 km. from Ragusa, 297 km. from Siracusa, 109 km. from
Trapani.

The municipality has 9.083 inhabitants and its area covers 356 hectares for a density of population of 2.551 inhabitants per square kilometre.
It rises on a plan coastal area and is 23 metres above sea-level.
The Town Hall is placed in Corso Umberto I, tel. ++39 091-495236 fax. ++39 091-496740.
Important is in the small town the production of agricultural and fruit and vegetables products. In Autumn a fair of bread and Sfincione (a sort of pizza with onions) takes place, they are typical local products.
Fakarazz is the Arabic name of Ficarazzi and means excellent, important.
In The Middle Ages it had been feudal property of Chiaramonte family.
In the XIV century, the small village changed into La Grua family who ruled it all through the century.

In 1648 the viceroy Pietro Speciale built a Castle that became his residence. At the early of 1700 it was changed into a villa with a long and picturesque steps still now present.
Among its several monuments it is important the Church of the Crucifix inside it is kept a wood Crucifix; and the aqueduct that dates back to 1400. Very important are the Merlo Villa and the Baglio Quattrocchi (rural farm Quattrocchi).
An odd custom tells that it can be possible in the near country of Ficarazzi to find a treasure only taking a seat upon the ground and eating pasta with some sausages.
