In the agricultural field there are grapes, olives and dairying
products, above all the typical cheese caciocavallo (very savoury
oblong-shaped cheese). There are many citrus orchards that are at
basis of Giardinello's economy.
The name of Giardinello surely has agricultural origin and means
small citrus orchard because in Sicily they are called "gardens".
The very small town rose as a feudal village in the early of the
1700 at the foot of St. Martino's mountains and was peopled by the
inhabitants of the near Partinico that was really a town.
Among its monuments there are the Tomba del Gigante (The Grave
of the Giant) and the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Mercede
(Madonna of the Mercy). It is important to visit the archaeological
reserve of Monte Castellaccio in Sagona's area.
