Tourism in Marineo
The town of Marineo which is placed at the foot of a cliff called Rocca (Rock) has kept intact in the time the original medieval town-planning.
There are still now visible picturesque curtyards and the characteristic small streets with large and simple houses placed along sides, built round an old Castle with medieval structure.
Also the Sanctuary of Madonna della Dajna (or also said Franciscan Convent), which raises in an area distant from the centre, is symbol of the linear medieval architecture.

It was built about in 1400 when it was restored by inhabitants the cult of Madonna della Dajna, who was painted on a canvas dates back to 1300.
On that canvas really it was possible to read the word Dama (Lady) that later was turned into Dajna.
Inside it there are beautiful works of art such as wooden group representing La Pietà of 1500 and a statue of San Vito of 1600.
From Marineo it is possible to enjoy a very beautiful panoramic view which opens over rich mediterranean vegetation.
