The most important agricultural products are grapes, cereals, olives, fruit, cheese and oil.

Montelepre has uncertain origins and perhaps it derives from Arabic Muncilebbru.

The first village developed about in 1400 when Giovanni Ventimiglia, archbishop of Montelepre made built a defensive tower. Only in the XVII century the inhabited centre developed more thanks to marquise Regalmici, the only owner of the feud.

The most beautiful monuments to visit are the Church consecrated to Maria SS. del Rosario (Maria SS. of the Rosary), the Church of St. Rosalia and the Church to the fallen and there is the town library.

In the adjacent areas to the town there are archaeological areas that testify the presence of a first inhabited centre already from the IV century B.C.
