Not much is known about Roccamena in the most ancient times. The first historical events date back to XVIII-th century, when the town was founded as a small rural village. The village was in the ownership of the Beccadelli's family and of the marquises of Salaparuta up to 1846, when the village became an autonomous town.

Among the festivals and the popular feasts we point out here the feast of S. Giuseppe, in August, and the feast of the SS. Crocifisso, which occurs on September, 18. A melon feast and the cattle market also occur in August.
