The agricultural production of Valledolmo is based on cultivation of corn, tomatoes and grapes. Important is cattle breeding which is connected to the yearly Fair of Cattle that takes place in August and October.

The small town was founded in the XVII century by name of Castelnormanno. About in 1650 it gained the name of Valledolmo for the presence of a big Elm tree next the Chiesa delle Anime Sante (Church od the Holy Souls). The small village has been possession of the Baron Antonio Cicala until the abolition of feudal duties.

Besides the Chiesa delle Anime Sante, recently restored, it is possible to visit the neo-Gothic Chiesa della Purità (Church of Purity) erected between 1844 and 1881 and the Cathedral Church of the XVII century dedicated to Maria SS. Immacolata.

History records a brave protest of peasants of Valledolmo who in 1785, from 28 October to 11 November, they rebelled against heavy agrarian contracts imposed by feudatories.
