Villafrati (Zip Code 90030) is 104 km. distant from Agrigento, 107 km. from Caltanissetta, 214 km. from Catania, 126 km. from Enna, 253 km. from Messina, 35 km. from Palermo, which province it belongs to, 148 km. from Ragusa, 298 km. from Siracusa, 134 km. from Trapani.

The municipality has 3.437 inhabitants and an area of 2.561 hectares for a density of population of 134 inhabitants per square kilometre.
It rises on internal hilly area and is 475 metres above sea-level.

The local agricultural production counts products like corn, almonds, olives, grapes, olive oil which are displayed in the Agrarian Feast in June and September. Typical are also dairying products which derives from cattle and sheep breedings. In the handicraft there are good wood articles.
The name Villafrati probably comes from Villa del Fratello(brother's Villa), because in Sicilian dialect "fratello" (brother) is said "frati". About the little town there are few information.
About in 1600 it was a feudal village and belonged to Filangieri family. Later it has become an indipendent commune gaining the abolition of feudality.

The Cathedral Church of the SS. Trinità which dates back to about 1750 and keeps a chorister and an organ both of 1700. Interesting is the original eighteenth-century Baglio (rural farm).
Odd is the nickname that once was used to refer to Villafratesi (inhabitants of Villafrati) they were called Sciaccalora because they had a very great number of donkeys (in Sicilian dialect scecchi) used in trasporting gypsum towards furnaces.
