actually the first historical evidence of this little town dates back to this period. In
the 14th century it was Count Aidone Enrico Rosso's property, who built a castle, no more
existing. From the 16th century to the 18th century the village was part of the county of
Modica. In 1693 the village was levelled by the earthquake and was later rebuilt on an
higher area on the same hill.
