Tourism in Pachino
Pachino, exclusive resort with a mild climate, cheered by beautiful beaches and clean water abounding in fish, includes the Cave of Calafarina amongst its natural beauties.
The cave is in Marzamemi, whose name comes from the Arab Marsa-al-haman meaning the harbour of doves, and right from here leave the ships carrying the local wine, exported worldwide.
The cave offers unique emotions.
Besides enjoying the impressive landscape, you can also jump in the old past times: into the cave evidences of prehistoric settlements have been found, dated back to the Metal Ages.
A legend tells that the Arabs, defeated by the Normans, before going back to Africa, carried all their treasures inside the Cave of Calafarina, using more than 100 mules.
