At the foot of the Mount Bonifato, a very important zone as regard the fauna and the naturalistic places, the Castle of the Earls of Modica rises.
It was built in the second half of the XIV century and is placed inside the civic center.
It can be reached going along Via Mazzini and turning in Via Navarra, finally getting to the Piazza Castello where it is placed.
Even if it has been restored so many times, it represents the most important evidence of the gold period lived by Alcamo under the dinasty of the Modica.
The imposing building reste on a rhomboidal plan; four towers come out from the four edges: two of them have a cylindrical shape, while the other two have the shape of the parallelepiped.
On the northern front of them, it can be admire mullioned and three-mullioned windows in the Gothic style.
The western front has been annexed to residential buildings.
