The municipality has 3.222 inhabitants; its area measures 7.273 hectares and its population density is of 44 inhabitants per square kilometre. Buseto Palizzolo rises on a hilly area, in the inland zone 249 metres above the sea-level.

Buseto Palizzolo is a wide agricultural settlement which has its origin in the XVIII century and it is made up of various villages and scattered houses.
Among agricultural products we mention: wheat, grapes, olives and melons. Sheep-farms are present too.
The name of Buseto derives from Latin word of Buxus, which means box plant, while the name of Palizzolo is a local surname.
The village is of Byzantine origin.
It was repopulated by the Saracens and later it became a hamlet of Erice until 1950, then it became a self-governing municipality.

The celebration which takes place on the Palm-Sunday is very suggestive.
During it, the passion and the Death of Christ are performed and played by the young people on the spot.
It is performed on the carts that pass along the town streets and the actors remain motionless for the duration of the procession.
Numerous bands accompany the different carts.
