The municipality has 11.198 inhabitants and an area of 5.837 hectares for a density of popualation of 192 inhabitants per square kilometre. Paceco is placed on a flat area and is 36 metres above sea-level.

Small rural centre, among its agricultural products we find melons but also others products are present such as cereals, olives, grapes and cheese dairy products. As regards breeding, in Paceco are also present some sheep-breedings.

Agricultural centre founded in 1607 by the marquis Placido Fardella, the name of the centre is due to his wife, Teresa Paceco of Vigliena. Conceived in conformity with a meditated urban scheme, the installation is a mesh perfectly orthogonal with some rectangular isolated (ippodomea plan), very recurrent in the sixteenth inhabited places.

In the monumental field we find the Cathedral Church, consecrated to the SS. Crucifix. It was built in 1623 and is placed in the main square of the centre. There are also the church-square and the stairs. Recently the Church has been entirely restored and has regained the original beauty.
