Population and territory
The province of Ragusa counts 299.644 inhabitants. It covers a surface of 1614.02 square kilometers, the population density therefore is 185.65 inhabitants for square kilometer.
Infrastructures
The province has no airport, the next one turns out to be that one of Catania-Fontanarossa. There are several ports for passengers and goods ad well as of armament for fishing fleets. They are no highways, there are 132 Km. of state roads, 947 Km. of provincial roads and 259 Km. of other roads, for a total of 1,338 kilometers of roads. There are also 117 Km. of single, not electrified track.
Tourism
Tourism is increasing with time, with excellence performances as for the city of Ragusa. The province counts 33 hotels for a total of 4,504 places in 2.258 rooms and other 41 exercises for a total of 4,508 places in 2.260 rooms.
Labor market
The data analisys for age and sex give account of the persistent conditions of disadvantage in matter of job for the young people. The unemployment rate regarding men turns out however to be less pronounced that one of the women. Agriculture and industry show an active balances, counterwise in the services there is a loss of job opportunities due to the block of the turnover put into effect by Public Administration.
